Vigan City Fiesta Celebration amidst the COVID 19 Pandemic
Vigan City fiesta is one of the biggest events in the Province of Ilocos Sur. It is held every January 25 and it features different activities that nourished and promotes our diverse cultures as Bigueños.
The fiesta
itself is a manifestation of the Bigueños' love for the history and tradition
of Vigan City. The Vigan City fiesta have been a “balik-bayan” incentives, or
come-ons for expatriates, to visit or come back for good to the town.
Showcasing different cultures of Bigueños, the City Government of Vigan
presents the Longganisa Street dancing Competition, Longganisa Cookfest, and
more. But more than the fun that the town fiesta grants, it is a commemoration
of conversion of St. Paul.
The Vigan City fiesta was celebrated online because of the pandemic but still people enjoyed celebrating the fiest.
The fiesta is
here to stay to keep Bigueños reaching out to the future as they stake out in the
present while reminiscing the past.
